Valheim is a co-op survival game in a procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology, made by the Swedish studio Iron Gate. After several years in Early Access, version 1.0 launched on Steam on September 9, 2026. You are a fallen warrior who must prove yourself to Odin by defeating mighty bosses across the biomes.
How many Vikings per world
One to ten players can share a world. Many groups run a dedicated server so people can join even when the world's owner is offline. PC and Xbox players can play together.
Splitting the work
- Builder — longhouses and defenses; structural integrity really matters.
- Gatherer — ore, wood and stone for the village.
- Cook — food boosts health and stamina, so never fight a boss hungry.
- Sailor and scout — finds new lands and steers the ship.
